about the author

Originally from Middlesbrough, Kevin E M Clark spent many years in London and travelling the world, before returning to North Yorkshire, where he now lives with his wife. At 14 years old, Kevin left school and embarked on a long career as an electrician and control engineer. He never had any interest in creative writing until, at a low point in his life, it was recommended to him as a form of therapy. After overcoming struggles with dyslexia and mental health, Kevin is now a prolific storyteller who is working on numerous novels and screenplays. He is the Executive Producer of the short film “As Time Goes By” (2018), and is pursuing production opportunities for several other television shows. His next writing project is SEVEN, an epic story that follows the lives of seven young Americans as they navigate the cultural turmoil of the 1960s.

about the book

Two teenage girls, Paula and Lindsay, are about to go to college. They skip school to go to an ABC concert at the Sydney Concert Arena. In the crowded arena the young girls dance, sing and move to the rhythm of their parents’ music they grew up with. As they hide in the toilets to smoke a joint, Lindsay’s eyes are attracted by a drawing and a note scrawled in lipstick on the wall. When the Monster enters my Brain, I will never know, but it’s here to stay. Catch me before I do more! There’s a picture of a terrified woman with blood pouring from her face. Below Lindsay can read, “FIRST KILL”.As the two girls leave the concert, they run after the last bus for Pittwater, but Lindsay stumbles and the bus leaves without them. A car stops near them and a man we don’t see says, ‘I’m going to Pittwater,’ and invites them to get in. The teenage girls accept, delighted not to be left in Sydney at a late hour of the night. As the mysterious driver begins driving to Pittwater his conversation becomes more and more disturbing. Lindsay passes out in the back seat of the car, tired by the concert and smoking joints. Paula in the front passengers seat realizes the driver has taken a wrong turning, leading down to a vacant building lot, overlooking Pittwater with its rich villas, marinas and yachts; then suddenly the driver stabs Paula violently, with Lindsay fast asleep in the back seat, but her fate won’t be much more enviable than her friend’s.
